Part-time income is earned through a part-time job. In an employer paid part-time job, an employee is paid an agreed upon sum of money based on fulfilling the job requirements and working the required number of hours. Part-time work is usually less than 30 or 35 hours per week, and those hours are oftentimes flexible. An employer paid part-time job may or may not include additional benefits in the form of paid vacation, health insurance, and savings or retirement plans.
Part-time income is any amount of money earned by an individual that is generated through work done on a part-time but generally consistent basis, either for an employer or through self-employment. Consultants, small business owners, and freelance workers are often self-employed and work part-time for part-time income. Some other part-time job and income categories include; researchers, home party hosts, virtual assistants, financial advisors and online tutors.
Things to remember when considering part-time income and jobs that are generated through self-employment:
• Business and income must be self-generated
• All “benefits” must be individually contracted and purchased
• The individual is responsible for paying all taxes
